Tutor Standards & Verification

Authority, Competence, and Accountability

Participation as a tutor on 1on1.today is a position of responsibility.
Authority to teach, guide, or form others is earned, not assumed.

  1. Identity Verification

All tutors must complete identity verification using platform-approved methods.
Anonymous, pseudonymous, or synthetic identities are not permitted for paid instruction.

  1. Competence Evidence

Tutors must submit at least one form of verifiable competence:

  • academic or professional credentials
  • documented work experience
  • portfolio or work samples
  • platform-administered assessment

False representation constitutes grounds for immediate removal.

  1. Role Clarity

Tutors must clearly declare:

  • what they teach
  • what outcomes they support
  • what their role is not

Tutors may not imply authority beyond their verified role.

  1. Formation and Faith-Adjacent Roles

Additional scrutiny applies to tutors operating in formation, mentoring, ethics, or faith-adjacent categories.
Spiritual authority, pastoral care, or counseling roles require explicit approval and verification.

  1. Ongoing Accountability

Tutor standing is continuously evaluated through:

  • learner reports
  • integrity flags
  • boundary violations
  • outcome disputes

Authority may be suspended or revoked at any time.

are strictly prohibited.

AI assists learning.
It does not replace responsibility.

Tutors must not present themselves as substitutes for these services.

  1. Platform Authority
