How to improve your memory through simple steps!!
Want to know how to improve your memory? Follow these methods and techniques!
What causes the lost of memories?
According to research, “most” people are “unable” to clearly recall some moments in their lives, leaving only some simple images and intermittent sentences in their minds. Some even forget everything, no matter how much they think about it; even if they re-watch it a few times, sometimes they still forget it all after a short time.
This is mainly because of the way the brain works. The brain believes something is not important enough, and you do not deepen the memory of the way to store the picture or content in the brain’s memory area.
However, there are “a few” people have the ability to “never forget” things. They will have the ability like to be able to recall a certain point in time, see the license plate number, or even see the details.
Not everyone can achieve this ability through hard work, but there are ways to remember what we want to “deepen” our impressions.
Methods and Techniques to Increase your memory
A study published by Chris Bird from University of Sussex, shows that people can easily deepen their impressions of what they want to remember by spending just a few seconds on some simple methods and techniques.
Here is the experiment:
The participants were asked to watched a series of “Youtube videos” after wearing a brain scanner.
Trial 1
After completing the series of videos, he asked “some” of the participants in the test to recall in their minds about what they had just watched and describe the video in their own words within 40 seconds after viewing it.
Trial 2
After playing “part” of the video, he asked the participants to recall in their minds what they had just watched and describe the video in their own way within 40 seconds after watching it.
The other videos were played and then skipped directly to the next video.
Results
The results of Trial 1 showed that some of the participants who had self-reports were almost twice as likely to remember the content of the video after one week or more than those who did not describe the details.
In addition, the study also found that the content that was not described was not remembered at all, and was almost completely forgotten in Trial 2.
The brain scanners also showed that the activity level of the brain was almost the same as the activity level of “watching the movie” when the subjects elaborated on the content of the movie they watched, which was the reason for the enhanced memory of the content in the brain.
Conclusion
By recalling the “things you want to remember” in your own way within a short period of time after they have happened, been read, or seen, and by describing the most vivid and impressive details that were intentionally selected, it is easy to enhance the memory of the event in your mind.
Chris Bird also mentioned that if it is unfortunate to suddenly need to remember some important scenes, such as crime scenes, accident scenes, etc., the collector should recall the whole process of the incident as soon as possible after it happened, which can enhance the memory of the event that happened in the immediate future.
In contrast, if there are some things you do not want to remember, then after the incident should also try to let the brain blank, and try not to recall its events, for example: people with dense phobia when you see a dense picture, quickly turn your head to think about other things, not to recall the picture you just saw.
